You’re not doing anybody any favors by missing sleep. First off, you won’t be feeling fresh in the morning, which should be enough on its own. Without sufficient sleep, our bodies simply don’t have the energy to perform to its full capacity. Just think about how it’s like to leave the house in the morning with you phone’s battery almost dying.
Here are a few things that can happen to your body without enough sleep.
Sickness – Losing sleep can compromise your body’s ability to fight off illness. Researchers have found that there’s a direct connection between sleep and your immune system.
Heart disease – Whether it be too much or not enough, awkward sleep durations are shown to have a negative impact on your heart. Your chances of developing a heart disease or suffering a stroke are multiplied when not enough sleep is had.
Cancer – Not getting enough sleep is also associated with higher rates of breast, colorectal, and prostate cancers. You can even out your chances against cancer by simply sleeping properly.
Can’t think – Even missing just a little bit of sleep could lead to major cognition deficiencies. It could affect executive control, memory, decision making, reasoning, problem solving, and reaction time.
